Pewter Casting Kit

The perfect way to cleanly and simply introduce the principles of casting in metal. Make impressive automotive parts, cogs and jewellery etc. Just create your design and cut out from thin sheets of MDF. Trap design between the sample mould case. Then melt the lead-free pewter in the ladle with a Propane/Butane blow torch and pour the molten metal into the mould and leave to cool for at least 2 minutes. Always wear protective gloves and goggles when heating the metals and removing the moulded piece. A good tip to ensure the metal goes into the mould is to put a ring of blue tack around the mouth of the mould opening. Any tags left on the mould can be fettled with a small file to leave a smooth surface. Kit comprises of mould case, ladle and sample of pewter, and 2mm MDF and step by step notes from an actual year 9 project. All components can also be bought separately.
