    Claude Monet is regarded as the archetypal Impressionist. His devotion to the ideals of the movement was unwavering throughout his long career, it is fitting that one of his pictures "Impression: Sunrise" gave the group his name. In the very early years he first excelled as a caricaturist but was then converted to landscape and finishing with his well renowned series on "Water-Lillies".
