    Chess Set Moulds Isle of Lewis Mould

    Made up of a selection from 78 interesting chessmen discovered in 1831 in an underground chamber at Androil on the west coast of the Isle of Lewis. The pieces found included ten kings with long curls down their backs; six unthroned queens; sixteen bishops and fifteen mounted knights. It is thought that they were carved in Scandinavia circa 1172 and most of the pieces are now in the British Museum. The King is 31/2" high. Set contains: 1 mould for each piece, except the Pawn where 2 moulds are supplied. Recommended board size = 2" squares and upwards.
