Watching Homecrafter Rashmi at work making a mosaic tile has got us in the mood for mosaicing, and there is a wealth of inspiration out there!
Mosaics are nothing new, in fact the earliest examples of mosaics have been discovered in a temple in Mesopotamia and are around 5000 years old!
Mosaics are usualy synonymous with the Romans and Greeks who used glazed tiles to create patterns and depict scenes on walls and floors.
Mosaics abound in our modern culture, in Rio de Janerio it’s impossible to not notice the mosaic tile of Copacabana pavement, the stone floor tiles are often referred to as the waves of Copacabana, where the walkway is said to be a tribute to the princess of the sea. The mosaic tile of Copacabana is made up of black and white diy stone floor tiles, covering a total length of 4.15 km.
Modern mosaics range from the miniscule to the immense….
